Pre-menopausal woman who eat 30g or more of fibre each day enjoy greater protection against breast cancer, suggests a study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology.
Fibre influences the way our bodies process and regulate oestrogen which, say scientists, may explain why these results were noted particularly in pre-menopausal women.
To make sure you get your 30g of fibre each day, try a high-fibre cereal for breakfast, a wholemeal sandwich for lunch, and at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. You may need to stock up on veggies at dinner if you tend to eat on the run at work.
